Die Engländerin mit jamaikanischem und indianischem Erbe singt aus diesen Wurzeln heraus, aus ihrer intensiven Verbindung zu den Spirit-Songs und aus der warmen, spielerischen Energie der Band auf der Bühne.

We’re very proud of this album: it represents the accumulation of many years playing music together, a long process of finding our voice as a Neo- or Contemporary Blues band. On this album are traditional tunes that are well over a hundred years old, alongside things we wrote ourselves (and with our fellow-traveller Mauro Pandolfino). It is a tribute to the durable power of the country-blues idiom–basically invented by slaves and developed by their children and grandchildren–that a Brit, a French-American and a Pole living in Berlin in the 21st century felt inspired to pay tribute, once again, to the likes R.L. Burnside, Fred McDowell, and Junior Kimbrough, to name just a few, and to carry this music into the future.
Wir sind sehr stolz auf dieses Album: Es ist das Ergebnis vieler Jahre gemeinsamen Musizierens, eines langen Prozesses, in dem wir unsere Stimme als Neo- oder Contemporary Blues Band gefunden haben. Auf diesem Album finden sich traditionelle Stücke, die weit über hundert Jahre alt sind, neben solchen, die wir selbst (und mit unserem Mitreisenden Mauro Pandolfino) geschrieben haben. Es ist ein Tribut an die dauerhafte Kraft des Country-Blues-Idioms – das im Grunde von Sklaven erfunden und von ihren Kindern und Enkeln weiterentwickelt wurde -, dass ein Brite, ein Franko-Amerikaner und ein Pole, die im 21. Jahrhundert in Berlin leben, sich inspiriert fühlten, R.L. Burnside, Fred McDowell und Junior Kimbrough, um nur einige zu nennen, noch einmal Tribut zu zollen und diese Musik in die Zukunft zu tragen.
