Felix Henkelhausen first began writing for quintet in 2016, work that culminated in their album debut Misanthropic Tendencies (2021). The band toured widely in 2023, resulting in most of the material on their new release The Excruciating Pain of Boredom (2025). According to Henkelhausen „Improvisation and interplay take center stage in this production, and the material is meant to serve more as a springboard to explore these areas more quickly or easily—perhaps even more so than on the first album.“

Felix Henkelhausen begann 2016 mit dem Schreiben für das Quintett, was schließlich in ihrem Debütalbum Misanthropic Tendencies (2021) gipfelte. Die Band tourte 2023 ausgiebig, woraus der Großteil des Materials für ihre neue Veröffentlichung The Excruciating Pain of Boredom (2025) entstand. Laut Henkelhausen stehen Improvisation und Zusammenspiel im Mittelpunkt dieser Produktion, und das Material soll eher als Sprungbrett dienen, um diese Bereiche schneller oder einfacher zu erkunden – vielleicht sogar noch mehr als auf dem ersten Album.
