Seit er 2020 aus den USA nach Italien gezogen ist, hat sich seine Klangpersönlichkeit subtil verändert. „Meine Improvisationen und Kompositionen haben mehr Raum, mehr Luft, mehr Halt, um das zu verarbeiten, was ich fühle“, sagt er. „Als ich aus Russland kam, hatte ich das Gefühl, dass ich im Vergleich zu den Amerikanern – den echten Katzen – nicht gut genug war. Ich hatte immer das Gefühl, ich müsse etwas beweisen. Diese Kampfstimmung habe ich nicht mehr. Ich will einfach nur meine Musik spielen und mein Bestes geben.“

He discerns a subtle shift in his tonal personality since relocating to Italy from the U.S. in 2020. “My improvisations and compositions have more space, more air, more stopping to process what I feel,” he says. “When I arrived from Russia, I felt I wasn’t good enough compared to the Americans – the real cats. I always felt I needed to prove something. I no longer have this battle mood. I just want to play my music and do the best I can.” (Liner Notes)
