Text Website: Die ursprünglich aus Finnland stammende Bassistin Kaisa Mäensivu lebt in New York City. Sie ist die Gründerin des Quartetts Kaisa’s Machine und hat international gespielt. Sie leitete ihre Band im Ronnie Scott’s in London, im Smalls Jazz Club in New York und dem Pori Jazz Festival in Finnland. Mäensivus Kompositionen sind so emotionsgeladen wie anspruchsvoll, ihr Bassspiel tiefgründig und glänzend im Vordergrund. „Anstatt ein routinemäßiger Bestandteil der Rhythmusgruppe zu sein, ist der Bass zur wichtigsten kompositorischen Stimme der Gruppe geworden“, schrieb Brian Morton im Downbeat. Text Website: Originally from Finland, Kaisa Mäensivu is a bass player living in New York City. She is the founder of the quartet, Kaisa’s Machine, and has played internationally, leading her band at Ronnie Scott’s in London, Smalls Jazz Club in New York and the Pori Jazz Festival in Finland. The contemporary scene in New York has shaped her style and strengthened her technique. Composing for Kaisa’s Machine is her chance to channel those influences and explore the groove aesthetic she is so drawn to. Mäensivu’s compositions are as emotionally charged as they are sophisticated, her bass playing profound and brilliantly foregrounded. “Rather than being a routine part of the rhythm section, the bass has become the group’s main compositional voice,” wrote Brian Morton in Downbeat. For All About Jazz, Mäensivu is “an accomplished musician with a uniquely creative voice”.
