VALENTINA MAGALETTI drums
Valentina was born in Bari, Italy, and is based in London.
She has collaborated and performed with London experimental electronic project Raime (with whom they form the band Moin), Charles Hayward, Nicolas Jaar, Jandek, Helm, Malcolm Catto, Lafawndah, Bat for Lashes, and Gruff Rhys (Super Furry Animals). Her influences include Ikue Mori, Georgia Hubley, Jaki Liebezeit, Milford Graves, Elvin Jones, Tony Buck, Charles Hayward, Billy Higgins, Han Bennink, and Art Blakey.
Cupo ist eine hypnotische Demonstration der Improvisation und eine Ode an die Free-Jazz- und DIY-Kulturen, aus denen die beiden Künstler hervorgegangen sind. Cupo“ ist das erste gemeinsame Album der in London lebenden Produzentin und Perkussionistin Valentina Magaletti und der rätselhaften Künstlerin Laila Sakini, die ein orchestergroßes Instrumentalensemble aus Dub, Ambient, moderner Klassik und mühelos experimentellen Modi einsetzt.
