ATLAS – Casey Goldens Debut “auf der Insel”, der gebürtige Australier findet in London mit Henrik Jensen am Bass, Will Glaser am Schlagzeug und Alex Munk an der Gitarre zusammen und schafft feine Klangrauminstallationen mit vielen durchdachten Momenten – verträumt, verspielt, mit viel Schwung und Dynamik … sehr abwechslungsreich.
Die Titelmelodie ATLAS beginnt mit einer ruhigen und reizvollen Ballade, die mittendrin abzubrechen scheint, um einer hartnäckigeren Gangart Platz zu schaffen, Munk glänzt mit einem ersten aufgeregten Solo. Auch “SINGULARITY” bietet Platz für die Gitarre, dem wohnt diesmal ein lyrisches Kontrabass-Solo von Jensen bei. “STILL LIFE” deutet auf eher hektisches Gebiet, da jede Ecke durchforstet wird, von rhythmischen Figuren untermalt.
In “HIGH UP” wird die Intensität zwischen Klavier und Gitarre kontinuierlich gesteigert, um in “Christmas Carol” ganz auf Stille zu setzen. In “The Good Fight” haben wir eine Symbiose aus “Still Life” und “High Up” und wieder das rhythmische Gefühl von alles ausleuchtender und suchender Hektik, die sich in psychedelischer Überdrehung verabschiedet. “Everybody Else” schließt das Set mit einer ruhigen folkloristischen Melodie ab.
Eine vielversprechende Aufnahme, macht Lust auf mehr!

ATLAS – Casey Golden’s debut “on the island”, the native Australian finds himself in London with Henrik Jensen on bass, Will Glaser on drums and Alex Munk on guitar and creates fine sound space installations with many thoughtful moments – dreamy, playful, with a lot of momentum and dynamics … very varied.
The title tune ATLAS begins with a calm and delightful ballad that seems to break off in the middle to make way for a more persistent pace, Munk shines with a first excited solo. “SINGULARITY” also offers room for the guitar, this time being joined by a lyrical double bass solo from Jensen. “STILL LIFE” points to more hectic territory as every corner is scoured, underpinned by rhythmic figures.
In “HIGH UP” the intensity between piano and guitar is steadily increased, to go completely for silence in “Christmas Carol”. In “The Good Fight” we have a symbiosis of “Still Life” and “High Up” and again the rhythmic feeling of everything illuminating and searching bustle, which takes its leave in psychedelic overdrive. “Everybody Else” closes the set with a quiet folky melody.
A promising recording, makes you want more!
