Text Jazzkeller: Die dynamische Zusammenarbeit zwischen der griechischen Vibraphonistin Evi Filippou und dem deutsch-rumänischen Kontrabassisten Robert Lucaciu hat eine künstlerische Partnerschaft entstehen lassen, die sich den Zwängen starrer Genre-Kategorisierungen entzieht.
Ihrer musikalische Forschungsreise liegt eine Vielzahl von Quellen zu Grunde: von den komplizierten Kompositionen der klassischen Musik des 20. und 21. Jahrhunderts, über die temperamentvollen Rhythmen des Jazz bis hin zu beschwörenden Geschichten, die in den Traditionen der Folklore verwoben sind.
Diese gemeinsame klangliche Erkundungen überschreitet die Grenzen vordefinierter Etiketten: die Essenz ihrer Arbeit liegt im Bereich grenzenloser Kreativität.

The dynamic collaboration between the Greek vibraphonist Evi Filippou and the German-Romanian double bassist Robert Lucaciu has given rise to an artistic partnership that defies the constraints of rigid genre categorisation.
Their musical research journey is based on a variety of sources: from the complicated compositions of 20th and 21st century classical music to the spirited rhythms of jazz and evocative stories interwoven in the traditions of folklore.
These collaborative sonic explorations transcend the boundaries of predefined labels: the essence of their work lies in the realm of boundless creativity.

Evi Filippou (*1993), started taking percussion lessons at the age of 7. With a scholarship from the Megaron – the Athens Concert Hall, she graduated the Conservatory of Volos (Excellent and first prize) and relocated to Berlin to study at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler (Bachelors and Masters graduation with honors).
The record inEvitable, is a collection of arrangements and compositions inspired by folk and traditional genres. The unique sound of the vibraphonist and the intimate choral storytelling, create a safe haven for a traditional dance tune from the island of Corfu, a serbian classic, a spiritual song from the african-american tradition, an instrumental version of Angelique Ionnatos’ music composed on greek poetry to interact with Berlin’s finest improvisers and the maximalism of Filippou’s arrangements.

Evi Filippou (*1993) begann im Alter von 7 Jahren mit dem Schlagzeugunterricht. Mit einem Stipendium des Megaron – der Athener Konzerthalle – schloss sie das Konservatorium von Volos mit Auszeichnung und erstem Preis ab und zog nach Berlin, um an der Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler zu studieren (Bachelor- und Master-Abschluss mit Auszeichnung).
Das Album inEvitable ist eine Sammlung von Arrangements und Kompositionen, die von Folk und traditionellen Genres inspiriert sind. Der einzigartige Klang des Vibraphonisten und das intime chorische Geschichtenerzählen schaffen einen sicheren Hafen für eine traditionelle Tanzmelodie von der Insel Korfu, einen serbischen Klassiker, ein spirituelles Lied aus der afrikanisch-amerikanischen Tradition, eine Instrumentalversion von Angelique Ionnatos‘ Musik, die auf griechische Poesie komponiert wurde, um mit Berlins besten Improvisatoren und dem Maximalismus von Filippous Arrangements zu interagieren.
