Axel Fischbacher was born in Lübeck and currently lives in Wuppertal and Berlin. He decided to become a professional musician when he was still at school and played in various bands as a rock musician. After graduating from high school, he first played dance music in Spain and after his return was active in Prox and the fusion-funk-jazz project Senora, among others. He studied at the Robert Schumann Conservatory in Düsseldorf and the Pädagogische Hochschule Rheinland (Neuss), the Musikhochschule in Cologne, and at Canada’s Banff Center of Arts, but was especially influenced by lessons with John Scofield and John Abercrombie. During the 1980s, he performed throughout Europe as guitarist with the Christoph Spendel Group and founded his own band, with which he released six albums.
Ryan Carniaux (* 1980 in New York City) is an American jazz trumpeter.
Carniaux, who now lives in Cologne, led his own quartet with pianist Mike Roehlofs, bassist Tomás Baros and drummer Samuel Dühsler. On his debut CD Reflections of the Persevering Spirit, released in 2011, he was also supported by Wolfgang Lackerschmid, with whom he also toured in 2013. Since 2017, two albums have been released with Ra-Kalam Bob Moses.
In the past, Carniaux toured as a member of the Radovan Tariška Sextet, with whom he also recorded in 2009, and Peter Herbolzheimer’s Big Band. Since 2011 he has been part of Norbert Stein’s Pata on the Cadillac (CD of the same name, 2012); he is also a member of the gRoBA Orchestra and the Globe Unity Orchestra. Furthermore, he has played with Mark Murphy, Benny Golson, Kidd Jordan, Ondřej
