Gennett Records of Richmond, Indiana was America’s first independent recording studio and “Indie” record label.
This exciting project includes the recording, promotion and performance of an original suite composed & arranged by Brent Wallarab based on early jazz recordings at Gennett Records in Richmond, IN. Recorded by the Buselli-Wallarab Jazz Orchestra, the suite pays homage to the distinctive role that Gennett Records and the City of Richmond, Indiana played in the creation and popularization of jazz and, as such, the development of the distinctive American Identity.
