Ich habe einen bulimischen Appetit auf Entdeckungen. Und wenn man etwas Schönes gefunden hat, das selten oder wenig bekannt ist, bekommt man das Gefühl der Ungerechtigkeit – was einem als Pianist eine Art Mission gibt: Jeder sollte das hören. Gleichzeitig hat man das paradoxe Gefühl, dass es auch ein bisschen ‚dein‘ Stück ist.
Es stimmt, dass ich bei bestimmten Stücken oft ein gewisses Erstaunen des Publikums erlebt habe, mit der Frage: „Warum haben wir das noch nie gehört?“.

I have a bulimic appetite for discovery. And to have found something beautiful that is rare, or poorly known, you get the feeling of injustice – which gives you, as a pianist, a sort of mission; everybody should hear this. At the same time, there is the paradoxical feeling that it’s also a little bit ‘yours’.
It’s true that, more often than not, I experienced some amazement from the audience when hearing certain pieces; the question being ‘why have we never heard that before?’.
