Die bosnisch-slowenische Sängerin und Komponistin Mirna Bogdanovic verbindet Instrumentalmusik mit Gesang sowie Jazz mit Elektronik und Pop. In der Berliner Szene fest etabliert, hat sie sich einen Namen als gefühlvolle Songwriterin, Downbeat- und Deutscher Jazzpreis-prämierte Sängerin und Performerin gemacht.
Ihr introspektives zweites Album „Awake“ wurde im Mai 2023 auf Berthold Records veröffentlicht. Produziert vom gefeierten Londoner Multi-Instrumentalisten/Produzenten Chris Hyson (Snowpoet), präsentiert es einen reichen, abwechslungsreichen und modernen Sound. Schichten von Gesangsharmonien, Synthesizer-Texturen und Effekten werden in den bereits komplexen Sound ihres erweiterten Ensembles eingewoben. Das Album ist nominiert für den Deutschen Jazzpreis als „Album des Jahres“, war nominiert für den Preis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik 2023, wurde zum NDR- und SWR-Album der Woche gekürt und erhielt zahlreiche Rezensionen in etablierten Magazinen und wird von Radiosendern im In- und Ausland gespielt.

An diesem besonderen Abend wird die Band Mirnas zweites Studioalbum „Awake“ vorstellen, das am 12. Mai 2023 bei Berthold Records erscheint. Das Album wurde von Chris Hyson produziert und enthält Gastmusiker wie Asger Nissen am Altsaxophon, Paul Santner an der Ukulele und das Rothko String Quartett.
Mirna Bogdanović ist eine bosnisch-slowenische Sängerin/Komponistin, die in Berlin lebt. Sie studierte klassisches Klavier und Jazzgesang an verschiedenen Musikhochschulen in Europa und schloss ihr Studium am Jazzinstitut Berlin in der Klasse von Judy Niemack, Kurt Rosenwinkel und Greg Cohen ab. Während ihrer Studienzeit gewann sie den „Downbeat Student Award“ für herausragende Leistungen, war Mitglied der deutschen National Bigband (BuJazzO) und Stipendiatin des slowenischen Kulturministeriums. Neben ihrem Studium besuchte sie viele Workshops und nahm Privatunterricht bei renommierten Jazzmusikern wie Danilo Perez, Norma Winstone, Danny Grissett, Sheila Jordan, Amy London, Anita Wardell, Jay Clayton, Theo Blackmann, Jen Shyu und vielen anderen.

2020 veröffentlichte sie ihr Debütalbum „Confrontation“ (Klaeng Records), in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Saxophonisten/Produzenten Wanja Slavin. Das Album wurde mit dem Deutschen Jazzpreis als „Debütalbum des Jahres 2021“ ausgezeichnet und steht auf der Bestenliste 2021 des „Preises der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik“. Das Album erhielt zahlreiche Kritiken und wurde auf Radiosendern rund um den Globus gespielt. Ihre kompositorische Arbeit wurde durch Stipendien der Universität der Künste Berlin (Nafög), des Berliner Senats, des Musikfonds und der GEMA gefördert.
Bogdanović ist ein aktives Mitglied der deutschen Jazzszene und arbeitet mit vielen Musikern in verschiedenen Projekten zusammen. Mit ihrer Band „Mirna Bogdanović Group“ tritt sie in ganz Deutschland und im Ausland auf. Im April dieses Jahres trat sie mit der Radio TV Big Band, Ljubljana, auf.

Bosnian-Slovenian singer/composer Mirna Bogdanovic is combining instrumental music with vocals, as well as jazz with electronics and pop. Firmly established on the Berlin scene, she’s made a name for herself as an emotive songwriter, Downbeat and Deutscher Jazzpreis award-winning vocalist and performer.

Her introspective sophomore album ‘Awake’, was released in May 2023 on Berthold Records. Produced by celebrated London multi-instrumentalist/producer Chris Hyson (Snowpoet), it showcases a sound which is rich, varied and modern. Layers of vocal harmonies, synth textures, and effects are woven into the already-complex sound of her expanded ensemble. The album is nominated for “Album of the year” by the Deutscher Jazzpreis, was nominated for the German Record Critics’ Award 2023 (Preis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik), has been selected as NDR and SWR album of the week and has received numerous reviews in established magazines and plays on radio stations in Germany and abroad.

On this special evening the band will be presenting Mirna’s second studio album “Awake”, to be released on May 12th, 2023 at Berthold Records. The album was produced by Chris Hyson and features guest musicians Asger Nissen on alto saxophone, Paul Santner on Ukulele and the Rothko string quartet.
Mirna Bogdanović is a Bosnian-Slovenian singer/composer based in Berlin. She studied classical piano and jazz vocals in various music colleges in Europe, finishing her degree at the Jazz Institute Berlin in the class of Judy Niemack, Kurt Rosenwinkel and Greg Cohen. In her study years she won the “Downbeat Student Award” for outstanding performance, was part of the German National Bigband (BuJazzO) and was a scholar of Slovenian Ministry for Culture. Next to her studies she attended many workshops and took private lessons from renowned jazz musicians, such as Danilo Perez, Norma Winstone, Danny Grissett, Sheila Jordan, Amy London, Anita Wardell, Jay Clayton, Theo Blackmann, Jen Shyu and many others.
In 2020 she released her debut album “Confrontation” (Klaeng Records), in collaboration with the saxophonist/producer Wanja Slavin. The album was awarded the Deutscher Jazzpreis as “Debut Album of the Year 2021” and is on the German Record Critics’ (“Preis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik”) best album list 2021.
