Drei Tage vor dem drohenden Lockdown begaben sich die Musiker ins Studio und spielten das neue Material vollständig ein. Um so bemerkenswerter wie hoffnungsvoll es klingt. Was vor allem an der Post-Produktion liegt, bei der Berg betont behutsam zu Werk ging: “Für mich fühlt es sich wie eine sich entwickelnde Landschaft an. Ich habe ziemlich viele Synthies und Effektpedale, aber ich möchte den Mix nicht mit ihnen vollstopfen.” Gegen Ende des Album wird es dann doch wieder ein wenig düster. In gewisser Weise aber schließt sich hier nur ein Kreis – wer nach dem Verklingen des letzten Tons wieder “Before Dawn” auflegt, kann einfach weiterhören. [Text: B-Flat]

Three days before the impending lockdown, the musicians went into the studio and recorded the new material in its entirety. All the more remarkable how hopeful it sounds. This is mainly due to the post-production, in which Berg was emphatically careful: „For me, it feels like an evolving landscape. I have quite a few synths and effects pedals, but I don’t want to clutter the mix with them.“ Towards the end of the album, things do start to get a little darker. In a way, though, it’s just coming full circle – if you put on „Before Dawn“ again after the last note fades away, you can just keep listening. [Text: B-Flat]
