Ich darf zu diesem Album auch etwas beitragen, weiß erst einmal nicht viel zu schreiben außer: das ist einfach gut, hervor- wie herausragend, es ist ein Album voller Überraschungen und Wendungen, es ist technisch brillant, die Musiker am Bass und Schlagzeug sind, was das Konzept angeht, auf Augenhöhe mit einer technisch mehr als überzeugenden Sol Jang – so ergibt sich ein Album, das treibt, spielerisch überzeugt und Jort Terwijn und Max Hering ihr eigenes Spiel spielen lässt, ohne dass sie dabei entgleiten oder ausschließlich sich selbst meinen, ein Trio, wie es für ein Debutalbum selten vorkommt, fernab der Beweislasten eines Debuts, ganz, als würde es das Selbstverständlichste sein – habe das mit offenen Ohren angenommen, um darin einzutauchen, das Staunen entsteht, ist groß, zur Begeisterung bin ich auch eingeladen, die Verwunderung bleibt – will das nicht übertreiben, da so viele Augen mitlesen und so viele Ohren ganz anders hören – es gibt für diese Überraschung keine Kriterien außer dem Hinweis: möge es noch vielen anderen so gehen: dieser Musik mit offenen Ohren zu folgen. In Kürze spielen sie in Berlin: im Quasimodo am 18.10 und in Dresden im Blue Note am 16.10. – einen Vorgeschmack auf ihre großartige Triomusik gibt das Youtube-Tape und die sehr fein geschriebene Review von Jazzviews, gleich auch gilt der Hinweis dem Schweizer Label, das ein Programm mit vielen feinen Werken vorzuweisen hat. Ich lege mich fest. Vom Sol Jang Trio ist noch einiges zu erwarten, sie haben schon jetzt ein Level erreicht, das auf der Suche nach ihresgleichen gut zu sich selbst passt.
Nehmt euch die Zeit. Es lohnt sich.

I can also contribute something to this album, but I don’t know much to write at first, except: it is simply good, outstanding, it is an album full of surprises and twists, it is technically brilliant, the musicians on bass and drums are, as far as the concept is concerned, on a par with a technically more than convincing Sol Jang – the result is an album that is driving, playfully convincing and allows Jort Terwijn and Max Hering to play their own game without slipping away or thinking exclusively of themselves, a trio, a trio, as it rarely happens for a debut album, far from the burden of proof of a debut, as if it were the most natural thing in the world – I accepted it with open ears to immerse myself in it, the amazement arises, is great, I am also invited to be enthusiastic, the amazement prevails – I don’t want to exaggerate, because so many eyes are reading along and so many ears hear completely differently – there are no criteria for a surprise except the hint: may it be the same for many others: to follow this music with open ears. They will soon be playing in Berlin: at the Quasimodo on 18.10 and in Dresden at the Blue Note on 16.10 – a foretaste of this great trio music can be found on the YouTube tape and in the very finely written review by Jazzviews, as well as on the Swiss label, which has a program with many fine works.
