Das KAMA Kollektiv ist ein schrulliges Quartett aus Amsterdam, das Geschichten über Liebe, Verwandlung, die kleinen Freuden des Alltags und die Mystik der Natur erzählt.

As if I lived a different life“ ist eine Hommage an all die Leben, die wir potenziell leben könnten. Indem sie Tagträume und verrückte Wünsche miteinander verbinden, erkunden die Songs des Albums alternative Realitäten und Wunderwelten. Mit einem sarkastischen Blick auf unsere wahrgenommene Realität tauchen die Texte in das Reich dessen ein, „was sein könnte, aber nicht ist“.
Unser kreativer Drang, dieses Album zu machen, bestand darin, den Sound der Band in eine neue Richtung zu entwickeln und ein fesselndes Kunstwerk mit einer Sammlung von faszinierenden Geschichten zu schaffen. Die Parabeln des Albums sind eine Zusammenstellung von Erfahrungen mit Isolation, Selbstentdeckung, Hingabe, Verlassenheit, Desillusionierung, Verbindung, Authentizität, Erwartungen und Zeitmangel. Kikis Musik und Texte entstehen aus den Ausbrüchen ihres Gedankenstroms und aus Einblicken in ihre Träume, mit dem Ziel, den Emotionen und Themen eine Stimme zu geben, deren Ausdruck ihr sonst schwer fällt. Jonathans Texte sind von Dichtern wie E. E. Cummings und William S. Burroughs inspiriert und streben danach, Absurdität, poetische Schönheit und gesellschaftspolitische Kritik zu vereinen.
Das 3. Album des KAMA Kollektivs lädt dazu ein, in eine imaginäre Welt zu entkommen, in der Plastikbäume Verstecke für Drachen bilden, Träume sich abenteuerlich entwickeln und das Leben ein anderes Tempo hat. Vor allem aber bringt uns die Reise dazu, zu hinterfragen, was wirklich wesentlich ist und wie wir uns selbst unumwunden treu bleiben können.

‘As if I lived a different life’ is a homage to all the lives we could potentially live. Connecting daydreams and lunatic desires, the songs on the album explore alternative realities and wonderworlds. With a sarcastic glimpse at our perceived reality, the lyrics indulge in the realm of “what could be, but is not”.
Our creative urge for making this album was to develop the sound of the band into a new direction and make a captivating piece of art with a collection of intriguing stories. The parables of the album are compiling experiences of isolation, self-discovery, surrendering, abandonment, disillusionment, connection, authenticity, expectations and lack of time. Kiki’s music and lyrics are derived from glitches of her stream of thoughts and glimpses from her dreams, aiming to give a voice for the emotions and subjects she finds otherwise complicated to express. Jonathan’s lyrics are inspired by poets such as E. E. Cummings and William S. Burroughs, and strive to merge absurdity, poetic beauty, and sociopolitical criticism.
KAMA Kollektiv’s 3rd album invites to escape into an imaginary world where plastic trees create hide-outs for dragons, dreams adventurously evolve, and life moves at a different pace. Most importantly, the journey brings us to question what is really essential, and how to be unapologetically true to ourselves.
